Measure Comp: All fish will be entered by presentation to the Measure Master or representative at the Measure Station @ the MBFC Clubrooms. Measure Station will open at 4pm and close at 5pm. All entrants must be in line with their catch by 5pm.
How is the length determined
For species with a V tail the innermost point of the V must touch or exceed the line on the measure to qualify for that 0.5cm increment. For example if your fish is just over 40cm but does not reach the 40.5cm mark then the length recorded will be 40.0cm.
For species with a straight or convex tail the measurement will be the point where the middle of the tail touches the measure. Please ensure your fish is placed so the tail is evenly spread and the middle of the tail is along the midline of the measure.
One Base Comp: Vessels must launch & return to Mangawhai Boat Ramp, on day of competition, for East coast fishing only. Fishing will be with rods & hand lines only (no long lines or nets permitted.) Max of 1 fish per species per entry to be weighed in.
Safety: is entirely the responsibility of each angler, skipper and/or crew. Any relevant safety information & conditions will be posted on the MBFC Facebook page prior to the competition commencing. The skipper must always take appropriate due care in relation to local conditions pertaining to the Mangawhai Heads Bar crossing. No safety responsibility will be accepted by the Mangawhai Boating & Fishing Club & Organisers under any circumstances. Contestants participate in the contest at their own risk.
Cancellation: if, due to bad weather or circumstances outside the clubs control, the clubs executive can cancel or defer the competition. A cancellation/deferment notice will be posted to the MBFC Facebook page and Website, and where possible will be displayed at the boat ramp & club rooms. Sunday 30th January 2022 will be held as defferal date. In the case of total cancelation prize giving will take place the allocated day of the competition with lucky draws to determine winners for the various categories. Lucky draw winners must be present with their ticket to claim a prize. The draw will continue until a ticket holder is determined.
