Mangawhai Boating & Fishing Club Inc

Mangawhai Boating and Fishing Club actively promotes sport fishing in the Mangawhai area and Northland region.

Our clubrooms at the end of Alamar Crescent in Mangawhai Heads have a full bar and kitchen, seated dining area and areas for socialising.

On display are pictures and trophy fish caught by club members.

Club activities

The club hosts many events and fishing competitions throughout the year from our Big Game Competition through to Ladies Competitions, Take a Kid Fishing Day, Interclub competitions and many social events.

The club is supported by an enthusiastic volunteer committee who are busy organising and improving the club activities and habitat, membership to the NZ Sport Fishing Council www.nzsportfishing.co.nz representation and responsibility to Ministry of Fisheries.

History

OTAMATEA BOATING & FISHING CLUB INC was incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908 on the 25th day of November 1966 and changed its name to MANGAWHAI BOATING AND FISHING CLUB OBFC INCORPORATED on the 3rd day of June 1999.

One of our key members Legend ‘Buck’ Buchanan, who joined the club in 1982, was instrumental in building the club rooms beginning in 2003 which was achieved largely through volunteer time and labour over two years.
